D3.1 DESIGN OF PRIVACY VIOLATION DETECTION TOOLS

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This deliverable describes the design and implementation of four privacy violation detection tools for end users and regulators alike. These include browser add-ons for detecting the
presence of trackers and for reverse engineering the online advertisement placement, a web-based auditing tool for testing whether specific web-sites and the advertisers/data aggregators
working with them are collecting/processing sensitive personal data of users, and a crowdsourced database for building a corpus of data for further privacy analyses by independent investigators or automated tools.
